Kersten Glaser (1992) is a German photographer and artist. Since 2015, he has been a certified photographer and is currently studying photography at the University of Applied Sciences and Arts in Dortmund.
The main focus of his work is the observation of places and capturing the experiences they offer. His focus lies both on traces of human presence and on the inconspicuous situations of his immediate surroundings. His serial works often develop over long periods of time and emerge from a repeated engagement with their respective subjects.
Glaser understands photography less as documentation than as a form of conscious perception. His work is characterised by reduction, careful composition, and a careful translation into black and white. At the same time, he leaves room for intuition, chance, and the behavior of the photographic material. He is especially interested in the possibility of making something original and poetic within the ordinary.
Alongside analogue black-and-white photography, he engages with digital presentation and virtual spaces as well as with the photobook as an independent artistic medium.
